Development Studies

Description

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the world of 'development', including foreign aid, humanitarian assistance, state welfare and local initiatives. Understand the causes and consequences of uneven development, and be part of the debate as to what type of development, if any, is required to improve people's lives.

What you will study

You will explore development theories, methods, practices, issues and actors in development research and practice. You will be introduced to major development strategies and will be able to identify processes of uneven development, impacts, and responses at the local, national, and global levels. You will learn to connect the experiences of people in their everyday lives with larger national and global processes of change. Students can pursue study pathways in areas such as international development, community development, critical development studies, environment and, development in practice.
