Creative Writing

Creative Writing at UNSW provides you with the skills necessary to produce and edit your own work. You will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of different styles and genres to push your boundaries and stretch your creative capacity. Our Creative Writing academics are published writers and encourage you to work towards publishing your own written work.

What you will study
As a student of Creative Writing you will develop technical skill and an understanding of creative writing as a discipline, while furthering your ability to read critically and analytically in the broader field of English literary studies. Courses cover a range of genres including fiction, poetry, screen writing, ficto-criticism and life-writing. As you progress you may choose to further broaden your studies in areas such as writing for the screen, performing arts, and journalism.

Creative Writing courses include small-group workshops and student readings. These courses will develop your creativity, enhance your literary and editing skills, and improve your confidence and ability to work collaboratively.
