Philosophy

Description

What is the nature of reality? What is knowledge? How should we live? These are the central concerns of three of the key branches of philosophy: Metaphysics, Epistemology and Moral Philosophy. Philosophical questions are also at the core of politics, history, law, the creative arts, literature, science and theology. The study of Philosophy teaches you to think critically and reflectively, to assess modes of reasoning and to argue constructively.

What you will study

Our courses are designed to help you form habits of clear and imaginative thought. We do this by presenting a range of contemporary and traditional philosophical thought, using key texts from important philosophical traditions. Advanced philosophy courses are divided into three broad areas of philosophy: Epistemology and Metaphysics; Moral, Social and Political Philosophy; and Philosophical Traditions.
