History

Description

History is one of the most established academic disciplines, and one that consistently attracts high levels of public interest. Whether you like to read history, watch historical documentaries and films, or travel to sites of historical significance, History at UNSW will cultivate your interest. We introduce you to the many exciting possibilities regarding teaching, researching and writing history. You will be encouraged to think historically, to be able to synthesize information and analyse its meanings.

UNSW historians are engaged in original and contemporary research, their interests range from imperial, colonial and transnational histories to suburbia and urban cultural history, and from Asian migration to post-war Europe and the two world wars of the twentieths century.

What you will study

You will choose from a wide variety of courses informed by exciting research and debates and delivered by dynamic academics. Our broad range of historical study areas give you scope to explore areas such as Australian History, European History, United States History, Asian History and Ancient History. We encourage you to develop your own research interests by continuing your studies in History in our fourth year Honours and postgraduate research programs.
