Description
Studies in English cover a broad array of literary periods, locations, and styles from the Renaissance through to postmodernism and contemporary society. At UNSW the study of English is viewed in a variety of contexts including traditional literary criticism and across the range of contemporary critical approaches.
What you will study As an English student you can select from a broad range of study areas including literatures in English from around the globe and from the early modern period to the present. These include courses structured around place or nation such as Australian Literature; American Literature; 18th, 19th and 20th Century English Literature; and postcolonial literature. Other courses are organised by themes, genres and artistic movements including Shakespearean Drama; Poetry and Poetics, Modernism: Text and Screen; Women Writers; Gothic Cultures; Animals, Monsters and Machines; Literature and the Environment.
