The professional practice of the discipline demands, simultaneously, broad theoretical knowledge as well as a focused practical education in both the art and the science of architecture and design.

The interior designer must have a professional understanding and concern for client and community in a seamless integration of the work with all elements of the built environment.

At an undergraduate level, UNSW Built Environment offers a four year full-time program, the Bachelor of Interior Architecture.
