 Policy Studies

Description

Policy Studies is an area of knowledge that examines the definition and making of policy, the social and political processes involved in policy making, the practical implementation of policy, and the analysis of policy in terms of goals and consequences. Students are provided with a basic understanding of the concepts and tools of policy analysis. Through case studies of particular policy areas, they gain knowledge of the importance of policy contexts.

Students learn skills in policy analysis, research skills, and both oral and written communication skills through the preparation of reports, submissions, position papers and proposals. They also gain knowledge in specific policy areas such as development policy, social policy, and criminal justice policy through their choice of electives.
