The Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) (Honours) is a highly valued and unique business qualification. It provides high-achieving students with a strong, 4-year academic program, integrated with:
(i) Fully assessable industry placement experiences that enable students to work with some of Australia's leading employers.
(ii) Research training via advanced disciplinary and methodology courses and a thesis.
The BCom (Co-op) (Honours) combines the requirements of the degree with 18 months of coordinated industry placement at three different sponsoring organisations. The industry placement extends outside university semesters.
A scholarship is payable from funds donated by the sponsoring organisations, and entry to the program is limited to students awarded a scholarship through the BCom (Co-op) (Honours) selection procedures administered by UNSW Co-op Program Office. Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes
- Apply a highly developed understanding of the theoretical concepts and body of knowledge in the relevant field.
- Identify and research issues in business situations, analyse, evaluate and critically reflect on ideas and practice in the relevant field, and propose appropriate and well-justified solutions.
- Communicate effectively and confidently in oral and written forms, in a diverse range of contexts.
- Plan and execute a piece of research with some independence.
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner in the work environment, communicate effectively in diverse workplace situations and be able to apply discipline knowledge and understanding to real business problems with initiative and self-direction.

The co-op honours major must contain at least 18 UOC at level 3 and 48 UOC at level 4. (Note that the 96 UOC includes the first disciplinary course(s) in the Core (Compulsory or Flexible). This means that, for the majority of majors, students will complete 90 UOC in specified disciplinary courses outside the first year core.)
The 48 UOC of courses at level 4 relates to the Honours, or research training component of this degree. Some disciplines may also include additional research training in lower level courses (e.g. level 2 or 3). The level 4 courses will include 24 UOC of advanced disciplinary and research training courses and a 24 UOC thesis.
On satisfactory completion of the requirements of this program, students will be awarded a class of honours. The class will be dependent on the weighted average mark (WAM) of the level 4 courses.
- Class 1: WAM of 85 and over
- Class 2(1): WAM of 75 to less than 85
- Class 2(2): WAM of 65 to less than 75
- Class 3: WAM of 50 to less than 65
Industry Placement courses account for 36 UOC. These courses are in addition to the requirements of the Co-op Honours Major. Students complete 3 industry placement courses within the area of their co-op scholarship, with each course worth 12 UOC.

General Education Requirements
Please note that students enrolled in programs within the Business School cannot take General Education courses offered by the Business School (i.e. courses with a GENC code). These restrictions also apply to the following courses:

- GENL2021 Intro to the Aus. Legal System (6 UOC)
- GENL2032 Cyberspace Law 2.0 (6 UOC)
- GENL5021 Business Law Basics (6 UOC)
Academic Rules
1. A minimum of 192 units of credit (UOC).
2. A minimum of 180 UOC of courses offered by the UNSW Business School.
3. 48 UOC of Level 1 Core courses.
4. One business co-op honours major of 96 UOC.
5. 12 UOC of courses from outside the UNSW Business School to fulfil the University’s General Education requirement.
6. Maximum of 72 UOC of Level 1 courses, excluding Level 1 courses completed as part of the General Education requirement.
7. 36 UOC of Industry Placement courses.
Honours Business Majors
8. A co-op honours major is normally a sequence of 96 UOC courses in a single discipline or area of study.
9. 18 UOC of a co-op Honours Major must be at Level 3.
10. 48 UOC of a co-op Honours major must be at level 4.
11. 24 UOC of a co-op Honours major must be a thesis.
Progression rules
13. A minimum of 24 UOC of courses must be completed before enrolling in Level 2 courses.
14. A minimum of 72 UOC of courses must be completed before enrolling in Level 3 courses.
15. Students must declare their major before commencing Year 2.
16. Students must maintain a minimum WAM of 75 to remain within the program. If a student's WAM falls below 75, they may be either transferred into either 3554 B Commerce (Co-op) or 3502 B Commerce. The exact program will be dependent on the student's WAM.
