Academic Rules
The student’s chosen program of study must comply with the following requirements:
- 96 UOC of discipline-specific core courses
- 12 UOC of management courses
- 12 UOC* of discipline specific ME project
- 12 UOC* of discipline specific BE project
- 24 UOC Design Courses

It is anticipated that this program will lead to accreditation by Engineers Australia.
* The 12 UOC BE and ME projects can be combined to form a 24 UOC project carried out over the 4th and 5th year of the program.
** Minor courses are taken from one discipline outside the area of electrical engineering and telecommunications, including Music, Industrial Design, Maths, Physics, Art, Computing, Commerce, etc.
*** Minors in excess of 24 UOC taken outside the Faculty of Engineering can also contribute to general education.
In considering advanced standing & credit transfer for any individual student, the rules of UNSW policy apply.
Only in exceptional circumstances will students be permitted to enrol in more than 24 units of credit in a session. The part-time mode will usually require students to enrol in a minimum of 18 UOC within any three consecutive sessions.

Industrial Experience Requirements
Students are required to submit a written report on their industry placements, typically 2000-3000 words, describing the organisation of the Company, summarising the work done and the training received. The report must be accompanied by certification of their industrial placement by a senior company representative.
Industrial Training will be assessed as a compulsory part of the course ELEC4122 Strategic Leadership and Ethics. Students must complete the industrial training requirement in order to receive a completed assessment for this course, but the industrial training assessment does not affect the mark received for ELEC4122.
