Stream Outline
The field of psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. It is a broad discipline that includes brain-behaviour relationships, the processes of perceiving, learning, memory and thinking, the assessment of abilities and attitudes, the origins of personality and emotional states, and the nature and effects of social interactions with other people.
Stream Objectives and Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, research methods, empirical findings, and historical trends in the core topics of psychology.
- Understand the basic characteristics of the science of psychology.
- Develop critical thinking skills and question claims that arise from myth, stereotype, pseudoscience or untested assumptions.
