The following courses are required by all students:
- PHSL2121 Principles of Physiology 1A.
- BIOM9410 Regulatory Requirements for Biomedical Technology.
- Students must do the Biomedical Engineering Thesis A and Thesis B instead of the thesis courses offered in their BE (Hons) specialisation. These are BIOM5001 and BIOM5003 (Mech and Mtrn), BIOM5930 and BIOM5932 (Chem), BIOM5910 and BIOM5911 (Elec, Tele, Mats), BIOM5950 and BIOM5951 (Comp, Soft, Binf).
- BIOM9420 Clinical Laboratory Science. Should be taken in the second or third year of the dual program, depending on the specialisation
- ANAT2511 Fundamentals of Anatomy (6 UOC)
- The first-year engineering elective BIOM1010 Engineering in Medicine and Biology is recommended for students in this program.
- Students may take PHSL2221 Principles of Physiology 1B after they have taken PHSL2121.
