Econometrics - ECONEH4744 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Today's labour markets place more and more emphasis on the knowledge and skills acquired in higher education and an Honours degree is a sure way to distinguish yourself from other job applicants. Many employers and post-graduate institutions will only consider applicants who have a strong Honours degree. This is especially true for jobs and post-graduate places in Economics and Econometrics. A successful Honours year is a sure way to distinguish yourself from other job applicants. Graduates with an Honours degree from the School of Economics at UNSW have moved on to successful careers in both the public and private sectors and academia.
The Honours degree in Economics/Econometrics is targeted to those students with the equivalent of a BEc or BCom pass degree in Economics/Econometrics. To satisfy the Honours requirements, students undertake an additional year of study, completing Honours level courses (both compulsory and elective) and undertaking a research thesis. Students must have completed the prerequisite courses prior to their Honours year. The following course is recommended as good preparation for Honours, either as an elective in the major or as an additional free option in the degree program: Full-time and part-time study is available in this program.
To complete Honours, students are required to complete 48 UOC. This requires completion of a thesis and the completion of 5 courses from the Required and Elective course lists below.
