Plan Outline

This minor stream allows students to develop a 36uoc sequence of study to meet their individual professional, disciplinary or interdisciplinary development. Students must put forward a case for doing an A&SS minor stream from Level 2 onwards that will enhance their BA program. The content of the minor stream must be approved by the Associate Dean (Education) and must provide a coherent program of study. Courses may be drawn from any major streams or minor streams in the UNSW BA and must conform to the UNSW BA rules. For example, a student doing Film Studies may want to focus on ethics in Australian film so may select courses from Australian Studies and Philosophy.

Aims of the Minor Stream
• To provide an opportunity for a student to create their own minor stream of study in sympathy with their major stream or professional study plan
• To ensure an intellectually coherent grouping of courses into a minor stream that will enhance the BA student’s program
• To provide professional, disciplinary or interdisciplinary intellectual extension to the student’s major stream.

Plan Structure

Students considering a minor stream in Arts and Social Sciences should contact the Arts Student Centre for further information.
