Plan Outline

This is the plan for a Major in Vision Science within the Bachelor of Science (Advanced) program. It is comprised of 150 UOC of courses as listed below. Students need to ensure that all other program requirements are met as per the 3936 Bachelor of Science (Advanced) / Bachelor of Social Science program rules such that a total of 240 UOC is completed.

PHYS1121 Physics 1A or PHYS1131 Higher Physics 1A (6 UOC)

Note: Students intending to apply for transfer to Program 3952 should seek advice from the Optometry School Office about their course selection in Stage 1

VISN2111 Physiology of the Ocular Syste (6 UOC)
VISN2131 Optics and the Eye (6 UOC)
VISN2211 Function of the Visual System (6 UOC)
VISN2231 Introduction to Ocular Disease (6 UOC)

Recommended elective:SCIF2041 Research Internship A

Note: Students who did not succeed in transferring to 3952 must complete PSYC1011 instead of PSYC2071

VISN3111 Aging of the Visual System (6 UOC)
VISN3131 Vis. Opt Inst & Recent Trends (6 UOC)
VISN3211 Developments in Vision Science (6 UOC)

48 UOC taken as 24 UOC during each of two semesters.
