Plan Outline


Metallurgical engineering is a discipline concerned with extracting metals from their ores, and the development, production and use of metallic materials.

This plan is for a MAJOR in Metallurgy within program 3130.

The program 3130 is designed for students who are employed in the metallurgical industry.
The program is part time and extends over six years of study. The courses in Stages 3, 4, 5 and 6 normally
are available only at daytime classes and one day or more of release from industry per week may be required.

Students are required to complete an approved program of industrial training of not less than twelve months prior to the award of the degree. Industrial training normally should be completed concurrently with attendance of the program, but with approval of the Head of School may be completed after completion of the prescribed course of study.
