Aboriginal Studies - ATSIA23428 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies provides an integrated, progressive exploration of Indigenous cultures, society and epistemologies and Australian race relations historically and in contemporary Australian society. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies places Indigenous experience and Indigenous conceptual frameworks at the centre of the program. All courses are taught by academic staff of Nura Gili with input from elders from the local Indigenous community and Indigenous specialists. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies critiques received notions of Australian history and identity, policy and contemporary relations between non-Indigenous and Indigenous Australians.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies may be taken as a minor sequence. This requires the completion of 36 units of credit in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies' approved courses (listed below).
