Plan Outline

This plan is for a MAJOR in Biotechnology.

Biotechnology can be defined as the use of various biological processes to make products and perform services. The essential feature of biotechnology therefore is the use of biological processes based on living cells and biochemical macro-molecules such as proteins, DNA and RNA in a rapidly-expanding range of activities of benefit to mankind. As such, biotechnology makes practical use of the recent scientific advances in areas such as molecular genetics.

Plan Structure

Stage 1
For a Major in Biotechnology, successful completion of the following courses is required:
PLUS one of the following:
Note: either BIOS1101 or BIOT1011 can be taken - not both.

Stage 2
Also recommended:
Note: either BIOS2021 or BIOS2621 can be taken - not both.

Stage 3
PLUS choose 6-12 units of credit from:
PLUS a further 0-6 units of credit from:
Please note that MICR3641 and MICR3621 can be substituted for MICR3041 amd MICR3021 respectively.
