Plan Outline

****************************************************************************************
Please note: In the first half of 2006 the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will be reviewing its capacity to provide courses in the Russian language. It is possible that the Faculty will decide to phase out all courses in this language and so it has decided to withdraw RUSS1111 Introductory Russian 1 and RUSS1112 Introductory Russian 2 in 2006. Upper level courses will be offered in 2006 [as detailed in the Online Handbook and Schedule of Classes].

Students who were considering studying Introductory Russian in 2006 should refer to the Online Handbook for alternative language courses. Students may also contact the Faculty Office to discuss options for cross-institutional study in Russian or seek further advice about appropriate alternatives offered by the Faculty.
****************************************************************************************
Russian Studies offers a range of courses designed to develop an informed study of Russia and the former Soviet Union through the study of Russian language, literature, civilisation and history. Russian language courses cater both for complete beginners and also for advanced or native speakers.

Plan Structure

For a major sequence in Russian Studies students must complete 42 units of credit in Russian Studies courses including 12 units of credit or more from the language core; the completion of RUSS2112 or higher; at least 18 units of credit in Upper Level electives.

Students are advised to consult with the Russian Studies staff to plan their program.
