The European Studies plan requires completion of a core European Studies program, three years' study of a European language, and completion of a core program of courses in International Studies, together with an approved overseas program to be undertaken during the third and fourth years of study. EURO courses are designed to provide an interdisciplinary European context which addresses basic issues and problems in the study of European culture and society, seen from the perspective of current attempts to establish a new role for a united Europe.

The basic requirements for the degree are:

1. a total of 192 units of credit.

2. 48 units of credit at Level 1, including no more than 12 in any one area of study.

3. a major sequence of 42 units of credit from the core program in International Studies

4. a sequence of 36 units of credit in European Studies (EURO), including EURO1000 and EURO1001 at Level 1.

5. a sequence of at least 36 units of credit in one of the following European languages: FREN French, GERS German, GREK Greek (Modern), ITAL Italian, RUSS Russian, SPAN Spanish.

6. 6 units of credit in an Upper Level ARTS course.

7. 48 units of credit at an approved overseas university over two sessions (INST3101 and INST3102).

8. 12 units of credit from the University's General Education program at Upper Level.

To fulfill the requirements of the Bachelor of International Studies program, all students complete one year of overseas study (INST3101 and INST3102).
