Description

This course introduces students to development management and governance strategies for developing countries. It provides the historical background of developing countries and investigates the contemporary environmental conditions prevailing in such nations and the problems that governments and citizens face. Particular attention is paid to the interventions that can be made by the state and other stakeholders to address these problems. The diversity of Third World states is emphasized and the differential governance and management strategies that need to be considered for such diverse circumstances ranging from strong states like China to post-conflict countries like Afghanistan and the Solomon Islands.
