Description

The course will teach the fundamentals of well logging and log interpretation which will be encountered almost in every stage of oil and gas project developments. Students will be also introduced to real well-log data for quality control, analysis and interpretation using both PETREL and MATLAB software and will learn the way well-log data are obtained, processed and presented within industry standards.

Students will also gain hands-on experience in a variety of core analysis in a well-equipped core analysis laboratory at the School of Petroleum Engineering including porosity and permeability, capillary pressure, and ultrasonic travel time measurements.

A one day site visit will be organized for the students to use an actual logging tool running in a shallow well.
