Description

This design studio extends design thinking and skills by requiring students to integrate challenging programmatic requirements into the design process. Design projects in this studio take a landscape systems approach to address the spectrum of contemporary site planning concerns: access, circulation, water quality and drainage, social equity, biodiversity and resilience. Students refine their ability to apply conceptual and analytical thinking to the design of medium scale sites, and develop the skill and ability to test and integrate considerations of ecological, social, aesthetic and temporal aspects of landscape performance into their work. The studio content is supported by the concurrent course, LAND1351 Landscape Management and Performance.
