Description

This introductory course provides a broad overview of landscape history from antiquity to the first decades of the twentieth century with a focus on design elements and design language, physical settings and cultural context. The course engages students with the critical analysis of the creation of designed landscapes in both Eastern and Western traditions across five millennia. Students develop their research and writing skills by investigating two specific works of landscape design from a selected period and culture.
