Description
Subject Area: Politics and International Relations
This course introduces you to Global Political Economy (GPE), understood both to be a field of study and an approach to understanding international relations. The course will enable you to understand the mutually constitutive nature of the political and economic spheres. We will examine the past, present and future of global political economy. The course will outline the major theoretical traditions in GPE, and will provide an overview of the history and development of the international economic order. In addition, we will examine the dynamics of particular areas of study in the GPE including finance, trade, internationalization of production, the challenges of international development, the environment, gender, and inequality.
