Description

This course provides an introduction to computer modeling and drafting for industrial design and the process of translating hand sketches through to 3D. Students will learn to use a three dimensional parametric solids modelling application that will assist with the development of studio based projects. The course is structured around lectures and demonstrations followed by practical computer lab classes in which students have the opportunity to engage with modelling and visualisation tools. Tutorials and assignment work involve modelling of complex multi-component forms and assemblies typical of product design solutions. Communication of design solutions is enhanced by the visualisation of products and assists in developing an understanding of manufacturing constraints.
