Description
Airports are major facilities which house the surface operations of airlines and air cargo transport agencies as well as operational agencies such as airport rescue and firefighting, and air traffic control. From a landside perspective, airports are a business dealing annually with millions of airline passengers whose needs include shopping, accommodation, meals, and personal services. This course describes the responsibilities of managing the airport concurrently as a business and as an operations centre, with both efficiency and safety. Aviation operations are constantly exposed to threats of misbehaviour, crime and terrorism. This course also over the essential topics of threat assessment and management of security risks associated with those threats, as well as the regulatory responsibilities of the International Civil Aviation Organization, of sovereign states, of airline operators and of airport operators.
