Printmaking: Matrix Tradition and Innovation - SART2405
Description
SART2405 Intaglio Printmaking: Tradition and Innovation will offer studio-based instruction involving lecture, class discussion and practical demonstration in a range of intaglio and relief matrix based techniques. You will learn about collagraph, drypoint and non-matrix based methods applying them with several alternative printing strategies that could work independently or in combination with other etching and relief processes. You will be assessed relative to the creation of 2 set projects that investigate core thematic and technical issues relevant to current art in print. With this knowledge you will then apply research skills in a synthesis of contemporary trends in printmaking and broader art concepts, with a developing understanding of your own creative practice, in the production of a self-directed practical project. This 2nd year introductory studio course contributes to one of two, four-course specialist Printmaking 'streams' and offers preparation for advanced study in 3rd year and may also be taken as an elective where places are available.
