Description
This course introduces prospective teachers to key issues in the learning and teaching of students from language backgrounds other than English and indigenous students for whom English is an additional language or dialect within and across the full range of contexts and disciplines in the secondary school. The course looks at how the needs of EAL/D students are shaped and constrained by cognitive, interactional and societal factors, and explores a variety of pedagogical approaches to support and extend their linguistic, conceptual, cultural and learning how to learn knowledge and skills within an inclusive learning environment.
