Description

An introduction to the functional requirements and construction methods specific to low-rise building construction. The course examines a range of key technical aspects and relevant systems, including: foundation, basement, ground-floor and upper-floor construction; brick, brick-veneer and timber frame construction methods and materials; methods of roofing; waterproofing; joinery; internal finishes; and services for low-rise buildings. This course also includes an important technical skill concerning reading and interpreting construction drawings and an introduction to sustainability principles relevant to low-rise buildings.
