Description

Subject Area: Japanese Studies

By using the broad social themes of post-1945 Japanese politics, economics and cultural development, this course attempts to produce an alternative socio-cultural time line by considering how these themes were and are represented in domestic Japanese popular culture. By reading a number of set texts and other materials, presenting and undertaking a major project, students attempt to answer the questions, how and why was each theme represented in the popular cultures of the day?

This course is taught in English and with readings in English.
