This course includes all components of PSYC2001 Research Methods 2: General introduction to research design and the analysis of behavioural data by means of inferential statistics (hypothesis testing and confidence intervals). Issues in the use of statistics (power, validity). Introduction to correlation/prediction and non-parametric procedures. Strengths and weaknesses of different research designs. Use of SPSS statistical package for data analysis. Introduction to factorial designs and multiple comparisons.

In addition, PSYC4111 includes a lecture stream on aspects of psychology relevant to optometric theory and practice (e.g., visual development, reading, abnormal psychology, neuropsychology). PSYC4111 is designed to help prepare Optometry students for the Stage 5 research project and clinical practice.
