Description
Students will develop reflective capabilities in assessing their personal interests and strengths as well as the ability to articulate their self-assessment results to potential employers. Students will also build on the ability to apply career development competencies in identifying suitable placement and/or employment opportunities.
Assessment tasks in Introduction to the Workplace are designed to engage students in active and productive learning. Students will develop a Portfolio for recruitment and networking purposes, including documents such as a resume, cover letter and key skill statements. Students will also conduct information interviews with targeted organisations and practice their interview skills using voice blogs.
Introduction to the Workplace is a pre-requisite for the work placement courses that follow, Professional Experience 1 (PE1) and Professional Placement 2 (PP2). This course can also be completed as a General Education course in a student's primary program.
