The European Union is one of the most ambitious, complex and innovative political and institutional creations found in the world today. This course intends to study the on-going formation of the European Union as an ambitious political experiment that has brought about innovations in the areas of government and governance, supranational constitutionalism and human rights, economics, and security. To understand these innovations the course will introduce the students to new analytical paradigms drawn from the humanities and social sciences.
