Description

Subject Area: Theatre and Performance Studies

Students will learn how theatre and performance can re-shape the ways that we culturally ‘see’, ‘be’ and ‘do’. The course will examine cutting-edge performance practices from Europe, Australia and North America, as well as new critical paradigms that account for the new forms of spectatorship these works create. It will focus on postdramatic scenographies, interactive performance works, relational aesthetics and new media practices as part of its exploration. The course will be run as a series of interactive seminars which include both physical and virtual excursions, as well as input from students as generators of the course material. The course aims to position students amongst the key critical questions, methods and experiences that will focus their ongoing work in the broader creative industries.
