Description

This course focuses on jewellery as contemporary objects that are conceptually driven and presented as an installation or exhibition. These jewellery objects use the materials, techniques and process of jewellery to challenge the relationships between jewellery, objects, the body and space. It encourages experimentation and examines the possibilities and contexts that inform the design and production of jewellery object pieces. The studio program ranges across traditional, contemporary and new technologies and supports diverse outcomes – from "one-off" objects to small-scale studio production. Practical work is contextualised by consideration of the material, cultural, theoretical and historical issues that frame contemporary jewellery practice.
