Description

This course introduces the content and methods of psychology as a basic science, with emphasis on the social bases of behaviour. After an initial review of the historical foundations for the scientific study of human behaviour, several specific topics related to the social aspects of human behaviour are discussed. Specific topics covered in this course include: development, theories of personality, theories of consciousness, and social influences on behaviour. In addition, training in the methods of psychological inquiry and basic procedures of data analysis is also provided.
