Description

Games that are used for more serious real-life purposes than pure entertainment are known as "Serious Games". These games might be used for social change, education, training or to help people achieve a particular health objective. In this course students will focus on the design and analysis of these serious games. This context will shape an investigation into game aesthetics, learning, affect and engagement. Students will also be introduced to the theory and method of user-centered design. For their major assessment task students can choose to either gain practical experience at applying these methods by creating a serious game or they can focus on the evaluation and analysis of an existing serious game.
