Description
Communication underpins the success of Art, Design and Media practice. This course boosts your skills and confidence in visual arts communication across multi-format art, design and media dialogue and debate. It develops your professional reading and academic writing, discussion and presentation abilities, enabling you to interpret different arts related texts in both traditional and digital formats. You will engage in individual, group and online communication activities. This will enhance your ability to discuss creative practices in preparation for working as art, design and media practitioners, arts educators, historians, administrators or cultural commentators. It will also assist with further studies in future.
By unpacking different communication styles, contexts and influences in class you will learn to identify and use English language forms, features, structures and referencing protocols. This will improve your capacity for critique, research and writing of exhibition and media reviews, artist statements, catalogue essays, academic papers and presentations. Visiting speakers will provide professional insight into how good communication is used in the arts. Keeping an online reflective journal will help you to monitor personal progress and take full advantage of regular tutor and peer feedback.
