Description

The course places the formation of contemporary Indigenous identities in the context of the ongoing colonisation of Australia. It explores the interplay between culture and identity and analyses the various historic and academic constructions of Aboriginality. The history of imposed colonial notions of Aboriginal identity and their consequences for both Aboriginal people and non-Indigenous Australians are identified and examined.
