Description

Australian State and Federal authorities have developed a range of policies that have shaped today's Indigenous communities. Indigenous People and Policy provides students with a theoretical framework for understanding policy and policy development processes and how these have shifted overtime. Students are provided tools to theorise the political, cultural and historical contexts that have informed the development of policy in the past; how these have collectively marginalised Indigenous communities; and how it has contributed to extreme disadvantage for Indigenous communities. Equipped with these tools, students are required to analyse past and current policies to further develop their understanding of the important role that policy plays in shaping community.
