Description
Subject Area: English
This course can also be studied in the following specialisations: Creative Writing; Dance Studies
A practice-based course in fictocritical and cross-generic writing, this subject builds on foundations in the analysis and writing of literary and theoretical texts. Students will also have experimented with a range of writing genres in Level 1 and 2 Writing courses. This course will teach research methodologies associated with documentation and ethnography, sourcing their own material. As a Level 3 course this course will provide a sustained opportunity for students to improve and extend their writing skills and to work on a larger writing project based on their own original research. Students will be introduced to the theoretical issues associated with fictocriticism, and analyse key sample texts from this field. The course will provide for more in-depth workshopping than a Level 2 course. This course aims to foster a peer-centred co-operative learning process which encourages students to take responsibility for their own development and learning.
