Description

This course is structured around practical computer lab classes which cover various aspects of computer modelling and documentation used in industrial design. The first phase of the course of aims to consolidate students' knowledge of 2-dimensional Computer aided drafting with reference to Engineering Drawing Standards. In the second phase students will gain experience using 3-dimensional surface modelling software to produce computer models of complex, curvilinear forms. Photo-realistic images of these forms will be generated using associated rendering/ray-tracing software. The application of these tools in the industrial design process will be considered.
