Subject Area: Japanese Studies
The course provides a late intermediate level program in Japanese language study. Following the 'Intermediate Japanese B', a prerequisite for this course, students continue to develop their intercultural communication skills as well as learn new Japanese structures, expressions, and interaction strategies. It also includes vocabulary learning where students learn 240 kanji.
They are taught through five social/cultural topics:
1. Self introduction in a formal setting,
2. Housing,
3. Culture and customs,
4. Telephone,
5. Stating opinions.
In each topic, students learn the current socio-cultural issues in Japan. They also analyse the differences and similarities and how they can deal with a situation related to the topics.
