Social Theory and Policy Analysis - SLSP3000 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description Addresses the way that the application of the social sciences to policy questions involves theorising - that is, the construction and application of abstract concepts - by both observers and practitioners. The place of theory in the production of knowledge, and the way in which knowledge is reflected in the organising of social order, are subject to critical review. Tracks the development of ideas in the social sciences, including contemporary debates about modernism and post modernism, and investigates their impact on policy.
