Biomechanics for Sports Scientists - SESC2451 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description Students will study the basic principles of biomechanics and apply these to the analysis of human movement and the musculoskeletal system. Basic mechanics (statics, kinematics and dynamics) will be studied in two dimensions. The biomechanics of human gait – walking and running – will be studied. This will integrate the student’s understanding of mechanics with functional anatomy through the study of normal gait dynamics, muscle function, work and power. The mechanics of tissues in the musculoskeletal system will be introduced. Methods for assessing movement, quantitative and qualitative, will be covered.
