Description

This course aims to provide you with an introduction to the concepts, design techniques and technology for the storage and management of data. It provides a context and background to the database development process, and in particular relational database design. It examines the principles of conceptual and logical modelling in database design, and provides skills in using database management systems. In particular the course will include a substantial laboratory component using an industrial-strength Database Management system (DBMS). In addition, you will gain experience of working in small self-directed groups applying interpersonal communication, project management and quality assurance skills.
