Description

Examines social, legal and political responses to legal and illicit drug use in contemporary societies. Challenges social and media perceptions and responses to drug use and criminality. Canvasses existing research on the causes and prevalence of drug use, and of responses to it in Australia and overseas. Examines the efficacy of existing policies and practices of drug control and specific drug crime diversion strategies such as drug courts, treatment institutions, and early referral into treatment programs.
