Higher Chemistry (Medicinal) 1B - CHEM1061 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description This course enables students to develop further their knowledge of Chemistry, beginning with an exploration of key aspects such as equilibria that are central to an understanding of a wide variety of molecular phenomena (including solubility, acids and bases, and buffers). Thermochemistry and kinetics, which are the underpinning principles in all chemical processes, are explored, before the course moves onto a description of main group and organic chemistry. These lectures will probe a diverse range of molecules and their reactions, focusing on applications as wide-ranging as materials science, atmospheric chemistry, biology and energy research. The core lectures are accompanied by a series of enrichment lectures on advanced and contemporary topics.
Students enrolled in CHEM1061 will attend the same lectures as CHEM1041, but will have unique tutorial and laboratory groups.
