Description An introduction to the study of historically significant interiors, their conservation and management. This elective is offered in association with the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales and involves fieldtrips to properties managed by the Trust. A range of historic interiors, dating from the end of the 18th century to the mid 20th century will be examined in relation to: the determination of their significance and value; the detail of their design and decoration; strategies for their conservation and sustainable management. Approaches to the adaptive reuse of historic interiors will be investigated. The elective will be held each Wednesday between 2.00pm and 5.00pm during Session 1 2009. Students please note that half of the course will comprise fieldtrips and that on-site briefings will commence at 2.00pm. Accordingly, you will need to take travel time into account when scheduling this elective.
