Advanced Science Seminar - SCIF1021 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description This Advanced Science Seminar course introduces highly capable students to research methodology and the general work of a scientist as applied to real life problems. Students will learn about techniques in scientific thinking and experimentation, estimation in theory and experiment, researching current scientific knowledge, and formulation of creative approaches to addressing scientific challenges. Students will also develop their abilities to communicate about science effectively orally and in writing. They will gain an understanding of their audiences inside and outside science and practice strategies for improving their professional communication, such as getting peer feedback. The course employs problem-based learning, high levels of student discussion, and a series of short and challenging assignments.
Note: This course is available only to students in the Advanced Science (3972) and Advanced Mathematics (3986) programs.
